All Aboard!

Dear Parents,

Although our week was a short one, we have been very busy in 4th grade!  We have wrapped up both our nonfiction text structure study and our expository essay in language arts, and we have completed several activities in science all while learning about animal and plant adaptations.  We have worked hard and are looking forward to this long weekend before setting sail on our Cruise Write Along week next week!

CRUISE WRITE ALONG
We have a fun week planned for the students.  In order to make this a memorable experience, our classroom has been transformed into a cruise ship and beach theme.  Thank you to Renee and Erin for helping to decorate. Students may bring beach towels, low sitting beach chairs, and inflated floats on Monday, April 2nd to use while participating in our ship’s activities.  Please make sure everything is labeled so that it may be returned to the rightful owner. Our room mom has provided Cabana snacks for the week, but students are welcome to bring their own snacks from home. Please pack lightly during the week as we will not be sending homework folders and planners home.  There is really no need to bring backpacks during Cruise Write Along.

Each day will be a theme dress up day.
Monday - hat day
Tuesday - tropical wear day (no swimsuits)
Wednesday - sunglasses day
Thursday - flip flop day

READING LOG
The final week of our nonfiction reading logs will be due on Friday, April 6th.

FIELD TRIP
Our field trip to the Meadows Center will be on Friday, April 6th.  Students will need to bring a completely disposable sack lunch (including drinks).  Please pack snacks separately from lunch as we will have snack before we leave school at 9:30.

UPCOMING DATES:
April 2-5 - Crusie Write Along
April 6 - Meadow’s Center Field Trip
April 10 - 4th Grade Writing STAAR

Nothing is as Beautiful as Spring!

Dear Parents,

Our week has been busy and full of learning!  We have mastered how to add and subtract decimals, and we have reviewed the rules for capitalization.  Woohoo! All of the students worked hard polishing and refining their expository writing skills. Lastly, students reconstructed fossils to construct a dinosaur.  We continue to work on our CCE vision: Canyon Creek Elementary is a school where staff and parents work collaboratively to maximize each child’s potential by providing emotional support and strategic instruction.

THANK YOU
A BIG “thank you” to the kindergarten parents for providing such a lovely Friday Feast.  We appreciate your kindness.

CRUISE WRITE ALONG
I will be decorating our room for this wonderful writing event on Thursday, March 29th starting at 2:00pm and continuing after school.  Please let me know if you can help. All hands on deck!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Spring Break!!

Dear Parents,

We have something to celebrate!  Every month Canyon Creek focuses on a different character trait.  For the month of February, we were all practicing being “optimistic”.  At the end of every month the essential teachers chooses one class that they feel best demonstrated the character trait of the month.  Our class was voted most optimistic this month!  I am so very proud of each and everyone of my students, and I LOVE that they were recognized for such a positive trait!

“Yo Leonardo!” was a hit!  Congratulations to the students, Mrs. Martin, and Mrs. Weir for a job well done.  We had a fabulous time at the Bob Bullock Museum on Thursday.  If you have never been, you now have an expert guide in your household to show you around.  I highly recommend visiting.  I would like to say a special “thank you” to Mrs. Patterson, Mrs. Radhakrishnan, Mr. Morgan, and Mr. Sepe for chaperoning.
