Fifth Grade, Here We Come!

Dear Parents,

It has truly been my pleasure to be your child’s fourth grade teacher.  I have enjoyed watching my class grow in many areas, especially writing.  Thank you for your support. A BIG thanks to Mrs. Zhao for being our awesome homeroom parent.  I have had a fantastic school year!

This will be my last week at school -- I will not be in town on the official last day of school, May 29th.  I am sad to not spend that very last day with the class, but we will have a memorable time this upcoming week.

11 More School Days....But Who's Counting?

Wow!  What a week!  The days are flying by as we head into summer.  Our last two testing days are Monday and Tuesday.  We will celebrate a year of hard work on Thursday, May 17th with an End of Year Showcase!  It will be from 7:20 to 7:45. I hope to see you all there!

STAAR Snacks
The 4th grade Homeroom moms have provided snacks for test day.  Your child is welcome to bring additional snacks. We do ask that all snacks are dry and nutritious.  We also ask that you do not send snacks like Cheetos, Doritos, etc. due to the orange coating. Messy fingers mean messy bubble sheets.  If food is transferred onto their answer document, there is A LOT of work that has to go into transcribing the whole document.

A Note from Jenn Smith - Robolab instructor
It’s time once again for Robolab!  In this session we will learn about the engineering design process as we build, program, and battle sumo bots!  Parent volunteers help make Robolab even more fun for everyone. Come join your child and see what they are doing!  You do not need to know anything about Legos or programming. You only need to encourage them to solve problems and supervise them while they build.  If you cannot come for an entire block of time, that’s okay! Just note what times you will be able to be there with your signup. Any and all help is appreciated!

Note that you must be registered as a volunteer in the RRISD system in order to attend.  More information can be found at this link:

Boot Scootin'!

Howdy Parents!

We had a wonderful time line dancing, painting bluebonnets, drawing Texas rivers on Texas-shaped cookies, stamping leather bracelets, taking wrangler pictures, and competing in the Cowboy Relay!  Then we all sat for chow. The chili was mighty tasty! Thank you for sending in the ingredients, cooking items, and providing table decorations. We also appreciate our parent volunteers for helping out!
