Give a Big SNAP to Coffee House Poetry!

Dear Parents,

What an amazing day of poetry.  Thank you for coming to Coffee House Poetry.  The children had a fabulous performance. What a joy it is to see weeks of hard work culminate into this event.  Thank you to Sarah and Christi for decorating the room and for the treats for the kids’ after party.

Book Buddies
4th graders are responsible for bringing books on December 7th to share with their 1st grade Buddy.  Students may bring their book in as early as Monday. If your child needs help finding books that are appropriate for their Buddy, they can ask to look through my books.

Character Counts
Our December Character Counts word is flexible.  Flexible is understanding that things do not always go according to plan, and that is ok.

Robolab Sign Up
From Jenn Smith:

Welcome to a new year of Robolab!  This fall, your 4th graders will learn how robots use sensors to navigate their environments - including extraterrestrial ones.  We’ll use Lego EV3 kits to build, program, and customize planetary rovers, then test them in our Planetary Exploration Lab.

Parent volunteers help make Robolab even more fun for everyone.  You do not need to know anything about Legos or programming; you only need to encourage the students to solve problems and supervise them while they build, program, and test their creations.  Note: You will need to be registered as a volunteer through RRISD.

Mrs. Babbitt’s Robolab is Thursday, December 6th.

Follow this link to sign up to volunteer!

A Time to be Thankful

Dear Parents,

Thank you all so very much for my birthday gift!!  It was so thoughtful to give me a few of my very favorite things!  The best part about loving salt and vinegar chips is that my husband hates them and won’t eat them!  I truly love being your children’s teacher, and appreciate you remembering my birthday.

As I reflect back on what I’m most thankful for, one this is certain.  I know I am truly blessed to be a part of such a loving and caring community.  Thank you for sharing your children with me this year. They really are a wonderfully loving and kind group of kids.

Gobble, Gobble!

Dear Parents,

The annual Thanksgiving Luncheon will be on Wednesday, November 14.  I hope you will be able to join us! You are welcome to enjoy the lovely weather at the picnic tables with you child, but please only take YOUR child outside.  I am grateful to be a part of this amazing Canyon Creek community and your child’s fourth grade teacher.

Our class is looking forward to sharing their poetry with you!  Coffee House Poetry is one of my favorite days of fourth grade. Please be sure your child is memorizing their mentor poem using intonation and expression to add interest to his/her poem.  Please mark your calendar so you can attend our class’ presentation of your child’s positively passionate poetry! Our time to present is November 29 from 9:30 to 10:45am.

Donations Please
For an upcoming project, our class needs 1 jar of grape jelly, 1 bag of chocolate chips, 20 gluten free rice cakes, 1 jar of marshmallow creme, 20 small plates, and 20 plastic knives.  I have created a SignUp Genius for you to sign up to bring in any of these items.  Thank you!
