Howdy, Partner!

Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for the beautiful cards, yummy treats, and gift cards that you showered me with this week.  I am so blessed to work in this community. You all made me feel very special.

TEXAS DAY:
The wranglers have some delicious chili recipes selected for our annual chili cook-off next week.  Please send in all nonperishable items on Monday. If you are sending in a kitchen utensil, please label it so it can be returned to you.  All perishable items need to come to school on Thursday. All meat and beans need to be pre-cooked, and all veggies need to be pre-chopped.

FAMOUS TEXANS:
Students received information about the Famous Texans project on Thursday.  All research is to be complete by Friday, May 4th, and the final product is due Thursday, May 10th.  I have included a few examples of past projects for your child to view for ideas.

FROM COACH BARNARD:
All 4th grade students who signed up for safety patrol will begin training on Tuesday, May 1st.  The 4th graders will train for a couple of weeks with current 5th grade Safety Patrol before taking over full time for the remainder of the school year.

Each student will serve in the morning and afternoon.  Please arrive at 7:05am on Tuesday May 1st sot the students can meet their 5th grade trainers.  Morning start time is at 7:20 and ends at 7:38. They will then have from 7:38 to 7:40 to make it back to class for morning routines.  Afternoon start time is at 2:55 and ends at 3:05. All walkers and bike riders will be allowed to leave after duty is over. Those who are being picked up by car will wait with Coach inside the school building by the doors nearest to the cafeteria.  Those who are not picked up by 3:10 will be sent to the office to call home.

Safety Patrol duties include opening the car doors in the drop-off line and greeting each student in the mornings and  loading the cars and saying “have a great day” in the afternoon. We are modeling important skills such as arriving on time for duty, being courteous to our fellow students and parents, and promoting safety for our school.

Thanks,
Coach
