Trick or Treat

Dear Parents,

What a tremendous Red Ribbon Week and to finish it off with the Fun Run.  Students are enjoying poetry, and don’t forget to mark your calendars for Coffee House Poetry on November 29th at 9:30am.

Thank you 4th grade parents for hosting the Friday Feast! Everything was delicious, and this treat is appreciated.

Dead Words
The deadline for the Dead Word project is Wednesday the 31st.  Make sure all components on the orange project sheet have been included on the final project.  Students may bring completed projects in Monday, Tuesday, and definitely by Wednesday.

The funeral for the Dead Words will be Wednesday morning at 8am.  Students are encouraged to dress in black in memory of their lost words.

Spooky Stories
Canyon Creek siblings 5 and under -- join us Tuesday, October 30th from 10:30am - 11:00am in at CCE for Spooky Story Time with our librarian!  Non-Scary costumes are welcome, but not necessary. Parents must stay with their children. Contact Family Support Specialist Lisette Castaneda at lisette_castaneda@roundrockisd.org to RSVP.

Mentor Poem
Students will memorize a poem of a minimum of 16 lines by a published author for Coffee House Poetry.  Students need to have an approved by me by next Monday, November 5th. Students should then type and illustrate the poem (an example is pictured below).  Students should have this poem memorized and ready to recite with feeling on November 26th. This poem will be recited before parents and peers at Coffee House Poetry on the 29th.  Students will also recite an original poem of their creation. The following link explains the benefits of poetry memorization along with tips on memorization:
